In earning power they lag behind their male counterparts as well as behind women of other races/ethnicities in STEM careers. The roles of Indonesian women today are being affected by many factors, including increased modernization, globalization, improved education and advances in technology . Many women in Indonesia choose to reside in cities instead of staying in townships to perform agricultural work because of personal, professional, and family-related necessities, and economic requirements. The Asian bride agency results showed that stereotypes of Asian American women are alive and well in the current social context of America. These stereotypes contribute to experiences of marginalization, invisibility, and oppression that these participants have faced in the past and continue to face today. While it sheds light on some of the distinct experiences of Asian women, it is by no means comprehensive. Women face multiple and intersecting biases due to many aspects of their identity. For the many Asian women who work in professions dominated by men, the challenges are even more acute.
In a self-proclaimed role as the “Chief Encouragement Officer” of over 100 employees, her SKS team oversees the operations of 2.3 million square feet of self-storage properties throughout California and one location in Hawaii. She went onto graduate from USC with a Masters in Business Administration and Public Health (MBA/MPH). In 1993, Carol established United Exchange Corporation specializing in the sales, marketing and distribution of Consumer Packaged Goods throughout the U.S., Pacific Asia and Latin American regions. Through her work, UEC has been recognized as a good corporate citizen and valued community service provider in the diverse cultural neighborhoods of Los Angeles and Orange County. Carol volunteers on several university advisory boards, including as trustees of the UCI Foundation and as members of the UCI School of Law Board of Visitors. As a child of Korean immigrants, she believes no dream is too big, and has a passion for paying it forward to her kids, community and the next generation of students and immigrants. This can be especially challenging when assessing data for women belonging to different AAPI subpopulations. The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community is a vibrant, diverse, and growing segment of the U.S. population. It is past time to remedy that oversight, which has roots in racial, ethnic, and gender biases.
